Summer Reading: Keep It Short and Sweet

Summertime can be tough for communicators.

Attention spans shrink. Out-of-office replies increase.

This summer, the challenge is turbocharged by a perfect storm of pent-up travel combined with people checking out for stretches to escape relentless waves of bad news.

If you want to break through, keep your messaging short and to the point.

If you can take a more lighthearted or fun approach, go for it.

Less can be more. Don’t send an email just for the sake of sending an email.

Summer is fleeting. Autumn will inevitably bring more focus and the back-to-school seriousness that seems to persist no matter how long it’s been since you sat in a classroom.

Take time to recharge – and allow your audience to do the same.
